Our desire and our calling is to see others grow in their faith. However, spiritual growth happens slowly over time, not all at once. So we think it's helpful to consider growth as one intentional step at a time. In fact, the Apostle Peter puts it this way:
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness... For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 PETER 1:3-8
Some Bible versions translate "supplement your faith" as "add to your faith." What Peter is saying is: Keep growing! Keep taking steps in spiritual growth. Don't stay where you are!
For this reason, we think it's helpful to consider growth as a series of next steps to take in your spiritual journey. To keep it simple, we use our Mission Statement as the steps. In other words, we progressively take steps to become more rooted in Christ (grow spiritually), community (get connected to others), and mission (give, serve, & share your faith).
